Chacott is a Japanese Dancewear Company founded by Makoto Tsuchiya in 1950, though the company name was originally known as SEISHI-SYA. Today, Chacott is a sister company of Freed of London, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of ballet pointe shoes and other dance shoes; both companies are owned by Japanese apparel company Onward Holdings Co., Ltd.

Freed of London was one of the first companies to offer dancers of color an alternative to "ballet pink" tights. Prior to this, dancers of color had to dye their tights to match the color of their skin using dyes and sometimes coffee.
