Anbei sende ich Dir meine Aufstellung für Deine Erklärung zum Einkommensteuer für das Jahr 1934, die Ende Febr. fällig wird. Ebenso habe ich den Fragebogen Deines Verwalters ausgefüllt. Als Werbungskosten ist wohl beim Einkommen am Kapital nur die 10% Ertragsteuer der Div. Papiere also der Aktien etc. abziehbar. Aber frage noch Deine Bank oder sonst einen Sachverständigen. Depotkosten sind vermutlich nicht abziehbar.

Herr Luijder-Utrecht hat Dir einen Sonderdruck wohl auf meine Bemerkung hin geschickt, dass Dich die Arbeit interessieren würde. Meine Bronchitis ist besser, ganz werde ich die Alterserscheinung nie los werden. Ich muss mich jetzt eben doch sehr schonen im 67en Lebensjahr.

Deine Einkunft aus 6% Pfandbriefen werden wegen der bekannten Convertierung auf 4 ½ % nun bald um ¼ zurückgehen. Erkundige dich was man mit ihnen machen soll. Ev. in andere Papiere umtauschen oder behalten? Protest kommt nicht in Frage.

Zeichen. Soll aber kein Ansporn in dieser Richtung zu Bachus etc. sein. Da ist Kulturbund bekömmlicher. Hüte Dich nur von der Grippe, die jetzt viel umgehen soll u. ev. sofort ins Bett u. rechtzeitig Arzt. Marianne ist mit ihrem Zimmer sehr zufrieden, sonst wenig glücklich aus bekannten Gründen.

Wie Tante Sophie mir schrieb, geht Erich Guttm. an 15 Februar fort, nach Neuendorf bei Misdroy (Pommern) (als Hauslehrer etc?). Tante Ida kommt in diesen Tagen nach Hirschberg, sie war in Gleiwitz sehr erkältet u. braucht Erholung. Tante Kaethe ist durch die Verhältnisse sehr bedrückt. Am 8. Febr feiert in Bonn die Chemikerschaft Prof. Pfeiffers 60en Geburtstag, der erst wirklich am 21 April ist. Ich war für 8. Febr. eingeladen, kann aber aus physischen u. ideellen Gründen wohl nicht zum Fest fahren, sondern werde am 21. April meine freundsch. Huldigung in irgend einer Form darbringen. Du wohl auch.

I am sending you my itemization for your declaration on income tax for 1934, which is due at the end of February. I also filled out your manager's questionnaire. For income-related expenses, only the 10% income tax on the foreign stocks (shares etc.) is likely deductible from your overall income. However, ask your bank or another expert. Custodian expenses are probably not deductible.

Per my remark, Mr. Luijder in Utrecht sent you a reprint with content that would likely interest you. My bronchitis is better, but I will never get rid of the signs of old age. I have to take it easy at the age of 67.

I am glad that you endured the party at the Hasenheide Park.

P.S. Do not discuss questions about your assets with your colleagues. Who knows what they will think? They may get the impression that you are wealthy and do not require an income.

6% of your income form the bonds will soon decrease by ¼ due to the known 4½ % conversion rate. Find out what to do with them. Do you want to exchange them or keep them? Protesting is out of the question.

This is a good sign, but it should not be an incentive to act like Bacchus. The Cultural Association is more tolerable. Beware of the flu, which is supposed to be going around a lot at the moment. Go to bed immediately and visit the doctor in good time! Marianne is very satisfied with her room but is otherwise not very happy for known reasons.

Aunt Sophie wrote to me and said that Erich Guttm. is leaving on February 15th for Neuendorf near Misdroy (Pomerania) (to work as a private tutor?). Aunt Ida will visit Hirschberg soon. She caught a cold in Gleiwitz and needs rest. Aunt Kaethe is very depressed by the current circumstances. On February 8th in Bonn, the Chemists' Association will celebrate Professor Pfeiffer's 60th birthday, which is actually on April 21st. I was invited to attend the celebration on February 8th but cannot go for health and ideological reasons. However, I will pay homage in some form on April 21st. I guess you will too.
