Letter from Friedrich Franz Nord to Ilse Wolfsberg, January 21, 1941
- 1941-Jan-21
Friedrich Franz Nord (1889-1973) tells Ilse Wolfsberg that he has reached out to Ilse Hayn and Max Bredig (1902-1977) about obtaining a visa, likely intended for Fritz G. Hochwald (1897-1968). He suggests that contacting a senator for support may help their application, but he, unfortunately, has no political connections to recommend.

Sehr verehrtes Fraeulein Wolfsberg,
Besten Dank fuer Ihre Anfrage vom 15. Januar. Bredig (Vanadium Corporation of America, 420 Lexington Ave., New York), der langjaehrige Assistent Professor F.‘s.
F.F. Nord

Dear Ms. Wolfsberg,
Thank you for your inquiry from January 15th, which I used as an opportunity get in touch with two longtime colleagues who were friends with him. They are Ms. Ilse Hayn, the longtime secretary of Professor Franck, and Dr. M.A. Bredig (Vanadium Corporation of America, 420 Lexington Ave., New York), the longtime assistant to Professor F. Both have said that obtaining an extra visa in Washington is likely impossible legally. I imagine that help from a Senator, which might cost around $500, could lead to positive results.
I personally have no political connections whatsoever in Washington and can therefore not help in this way.
However, I am glad to work with Professor Jordan should he contact me. I don't know his organization and couldn't find it in the phone book.
Best regards,
F.F. Nord
