Lieber Freund! Die Arbeit, nach der Sie suchen, ist offenbar die von Van Loon, vergl. Holleman u. Van Loon, Centalblatt 1904II, 792, 793 und 1142. Ich habe niemals über die Benzidinumlagerung gearbeitet. Dass es Ihnen u. den Ihrigen gut geht, freute mich sehr zu hören. Ich habe oft an Sie gedacht. Ich bin durch die jahrelange Aufregung u. Angst in den Nerven ganz herunter. Jetzt in dem Sinne (seit 16. Juni) / halte ich mich nur durch intensive Laboratoriumsarbeiten aufrecht. Reaktionskinetisch natürlich. Leider geht uns im Krieg eins nach dem andern aus, und man kann nichts bekommen. Die romantische Reise ist bald ganz ausgestorben. Nächste Woche wollen wir ins Gebirge. Am 1. August geht das Semester wieder an,

Dear Friend,
The publication you are looking for appears to be by Van Loon, see Holleman and Van Loon, Centalblatt 1904 II, 792, 793 and 1142. I have never worked on the benzidine rearrangement. I was very pleased to hear that you and your family are doing well. I have often thought about you. I am not in the best shape due to years of anxiety and fear. With this in mind, I have been keeping myself afloat with intensive laboratory work since June 16th. Of course, I am working with reaction kinetics. With regards to the war, we are losing one after the other, and can’t win anything. Hopes are now diminished. Next week, we want to go to the mountains. On August 1st, the semester begins again
