hat. Er braucht Ruhe, u. liebevolle Fürsorge. Er litt in Be. Unter schwerer Depressionen, lebensmüde, u. ich kann aus seinen jetzigen Karten die so kurz u. einsilbig sind, so gar nicht ersehen, ob es ihm jetzt besser geht. Den Kindern scheint es sehr gut zu gehen. Die Onkels kümmern sich sehr nett um sie u. sie sind sehr gut in der Schule. Ob Du eigentl. Mal unseren Bürgen Otto W. aufgesucht hast? Wir haben schon lange nichts von ihm gehört. Bleibe gesund u. sei innigst gegrüßt von

Lieber Max,
Deinen lieben Neujahrsgruß vom 12 Dez. erhielt ich am 3.I. mit vielem Dank. Ebenso erhielten wir Dein Paket am 27.XII aus Dänemark. Ich schrieb Dir Karte am 3. Dez., (Brief am 10, der mir durch Vater beseitigt wurde), Karte am 18. Dez, am 29. Dez, am 2.I, u Brief am 5.I. Leider höre ich so sehr wenig von Dir. Auch von Vater habe ich seit dem 12. Jan. nichts gehört. Ich bin in Gedanken immer bei Euch. Von uns gibt es gar nichts zu berichten; wir warten halt. Es geht uns soweit ordentlich. Ende des Monats fährt der Neffe Viktors nach U.S.A., der sich wohl ausfinden wird. – Über Vater mache ich nur große Sorgen, wenn ich auch jetzt weiß, daß meine Karte vom 2.I. überholt ist, so ist doch seine Verlassenheit in der. holländ. Pension sehr traurig. Hoffentl. gelingt der Plan, ihn zu Dir zu bringen; Du bist Dir aber hoffentlich klar darüber, dass Vater gealtert ist u. sehr durchgemacht

He needs rest and loving care. In Bleicherode, he was suffering from severe depression and was weary of life. I can't tell from his current postcards, which are so short and monosyllabic, if he’s doing better now. The children seem to be doing very well. The uncles are kindly taking care of them and they are doing well in school. Have you visited our sponsor Otto W.? We haven't heard from him in a long time. Stay healthy and best regards.

Dear Max,
Thank you for your nice New Year's greeting from December 12th, which I received on January 3rd. We also received your package on December 27th from Denmark. I wrote you a postcard on December 3rd (letter on December 10th, which Father sent me), a postcard on December 18th, December 29th, January 2nd, and a letter on January 5th. Unfortunately, I've haven’t heard much from you. I haven't heard from Father since January 12th either. You all are always in my thoughts. We don’t have any news. We're just waiting. We're doing well so far. At the end of the month, Viktor's nephew will travel to the U.S.A. He will adjust well. I'm just very worried about Father, even though I know now that he received my postcard from January 2nd. His desolation in the Dutch hotel is very sad. Hopefully the plan to bring him to you will succeed. Nevertheless, you are surely aware that father has aged and gone through a lot.
