Advertisement for Dowflake Calcium Chloride, a product of the Dow Chemical Company. The advertisement features a man (bottom left) contemplating traffic accidents resulting from poor road conditions, while a second man comfortably dreams of clean roads presumably treated with Dowflake. Patented on February 17, 1925, Dowflake was marketed for use to control dust on unpaved roads and parking lots, as well as a roadway deicer. This advertisement appeared on page 211 of a 1928 edition of The American City .
