Lieber Max!
Soeben traf Dein l. Brief vom 8. Febr. 1938 hier ein. Hoffentlich hast Du inzwischen meine Zuschriften No Mx 54 vom 28. Jan. u. No Mx 55 vom 14 Febr. und die Frachtsendung No II Amex 3 Collins sowie den Brief von 2 Febr. mit der Inhaltsliste derselben erhalten, sowie den Schlüssel zum Kasten durch Amex. Der Notenschrakchen blieb leider noch nur, weil Nachricht zu spät ankam.
Marianne schrieb zuletzt schon an 30. Dez 37. Dann hatte sie viel zu thun u. Ablehnung (durch Hauseieinrichtung, akt. u. passive Besuche, leichte Erkältung der Kinder etc.). Hier ist jetzt alles wohl. Du bist u. hoffentlich auch! – Dem Beispiel von Schnell solltest Du schnellstens allerdings nur nach reichlicher u. vernünftigen Überlegung folgen. –
Ich hatte mit Marianne verabredet, dass wir alle 8 Tage abwechselnd schreiben wollen, wie Du ja uns auch. Sie wird es sicher bald, sobald sie etwas Ruhe hat, nachholen. Heute ist Lores Mutter abgereist.

Dear Max,
Your last letter from February 8, 1938 just arrived here. In the mean time, hopefully you have received my letters Mx #54 from January 28, Mx #55 from February 14, the freight shipment # II Amex 3 Collins, as well as the letter from February 14 with the list of its contents. I also sent the key to the trunk through Amex. Unfortunately, the sheet music cabinet was not sent because your message arrived too late.
Marianne last wrote on December 30, 1937. She way very busy, especially with the household, visitors, and taking care of the children, who had colds. Everything is going well here. Hopefully you are doing well too. You should follow up with the Schnell’s situation soon, but only after careful and reasonable deliberation.
I made plans with Marianne to write every 8 days, like you do with us. She will start certainly start writing soon, especially when she can rest and have more free time. Lore’s mother left today.
