Each crayon is wrapped in a paper label with the color name and "Trade Mark/Munsell Perma/Made by Binney & Smith Co./New York" printed on it. The "Maximum" color crayons each have a blue-green piece of tape wrapping their ends to differentiate them from the "Middle" color and Black crayons.
In 1924, Crayola Company purchased the crayon portion of the Munsell Color Works Company. For a period of time, the company sold two lines of Crayons with the Munsell-Crayola name, a molded crayon version called Munsell-Crayola, and a pressed crayon version called Munsell-Perma.
