Wir sprachen kürzlich darüber, ob Sie Zustimmung des Wehrmeldeamts zu Ihrer Auswanderung brauchen. Ich nehme an, dass dies nicht der Fall ist. Die Zustimmung ist – abgesehen von den bereits wehrpflichtigen Jahrgängen 1918-1919 – nur für die aufgerufenen Jahrgänge 1913-1917 erforderlich. Ich empfehle Ihnen aber, sich mit einem Ausweis ihrer jüdischen Abstammung zu versehen, damit Sie beim Grenzübertritt, wenn nötig, denselben vorweisen können. Auf diese Weise könnten Sie den Nachweis erbringen, dass Sie allenfalls der Ersatzreserve 2 zugehören.

Dear Doctor,
We recently discussed whether you need the approval of the military registration office for your emigration. I suppose that is not the case. Except for those born from 1918-1919, who were already registered for compulsory military service, approval is only required for those born from 1913-1917. However, I suggest that you acquire a Jewish identification card so that, if necessary, you can show it when you cross the border. In doing so, you could prove that you are a member of the Substitute Reserve Battalion #2.
