Letter from Irène Joliot-Curie (1897-1956) to Raymond Delaby (1891-1958), general-secretary of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) concerning the appointment of Norwegian radiochemist Ellen Glenditsch (1879-1968) to IUPAC's Commission on Radioelements. After beginning her scientific career as an assistant to Irène Joliot-Curie's mother, Marie Curie, Ellen Glenditsch became a pioneer in radiochemistry, notably establishing the half-life of radium and helping demonstrate the existence of isotopes.
