Snelling (1880-1965) over the course of his career as an industrial chemist primarily working with explosives and pyrotechnics. Snelling's research in flavor chemistry is reflected in the materials digitized here, a small selection of advertisements for various food additive products and flavoring agents alternately called “Aji-No-Moto,” “Ac’cent,” and “Essence of Taste” and now more commonly known as pure mono sodium glutamate (MSG).
