All Jews were required to change their first name to a name present on an officially approved list of Jewish names. Having grown up in a Jewish community in Glogow, Silesia, Georg Bredig was forced to re-adopt the ceremonial Jewish name, Salomon, that was given to him at birth.

Die Verlegung Ihres Wohnsitzes in das Ausland (Holland) wird Ihnen hiermit für die Dauer von zwei Jahren, nämlich 1. August 1941, erteilt.
Die Genehmigung erfolgt gemäß 128 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 DBG auf jederzeitigen Widerruf. Sie wird ohne Weiteres hinfällig, falls Die Ihren Wohnsitz in ein anderes Land, für welches die erfolge Genehmigung nicht ausgesprochen ist, verlegen. Sie hätten in diesem Falle durch die Hände der für Ihren Wohnsitz zuständigen deutschen Auslandsvertretung die erforderliche Genehmigung zur weiteren Verlegung des Wohnsitzes zu beantragen. Der Herr Badische Finanz-und Wirtschaftsminister ist verständigt. Ferner habe ich dem Herr Badischen Finanz-und Wirtschaftsminister Ihr Gesuch vom 19. Juni 1939 hinsichtlich der Überweisung der Versorgungsbezüge zugeleitet.

You are hereby granted permission to transfer your residence abroad (Holland) for a period of two years, beginning on 1 August 1941.
The approval is granted in accordance with Section 128, Paragraph 2, Number 2 of the German Federal Law and can be revoked at any time. It will automatically become invalid if you move your place of residence to another country for which approval has not been granted. In this case, you would have to apply with the German diplomatic mission responsible for your place of residence for the necessary approval to move your place of residence again. The Minister of Finance and Economics for the State of Baden has been informed. I have also forwarded your inquiry from 19 June 1939 regarding the transfer of your pension payments to the Minister of Finance and Economics for the State of Baden.
