General view of apprentice Carl Goetz blowing out a distillation head of a glass tube manufactured in the Dow Chemical Company's Glass Fabrication department. Founded in 1925, the department was responsible for the fabrication and repair of specialty glass equipment used at the Company's plant in Midland, Michigan. By blowing out the distillation head, Goetz was attempting to even up the curvature of the end of the tube.
