Arnold O. Beckman with Richard Nixon
- 1962
Arnold Beckman supported former Vice President Richard Nixon in his unsuccessful 1962 campaign for governor of California, including speaking at a campaign rally. In this image "Professor Beckman" gives a lecture on "Brownian motion" that critiqued Nixon's opponent in the race, Edmund (Pat) Brown (1905-1996). Beckman's scientific joke largely went over the heads of the audience at this event. Nixon would go on to serve as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1974.
