Advertisement for Daintex, a terpene-based chemical manufactured and sold by the Hercules Powder Company for use in soaps and detergents. The advertisement shows a list of Daintex distributers by state against a blue background with decorative soap bubbles. At the bottom of the page, printed text reading "This advertisement appears in Starchroom Laundry Journal" has been hand-corrected to read "This advertisement appears in Laundry Age."

Formed in 1912 as part of an anti-trust settlement with DuPont, the Hercules Powder Company (later Hercules Inc.) initially specialized in the manufacture of explosives and smokeless powders and subsequently diversified its business to encompass a variety of industrial products, including pine and paper chemicals, synthetics, pigments, polymers, and cellulose.
