Lieber Bill!
Wir sind gestern hier angekommen. Mein Mann u. Schwager in Les Milles bei Marseille, ich in in Hotel Terminus des Ports 59 Boulevard des Dames. Das Essen besteht weiter aus Kaffee, 2x Soupe u. etwas Brot. Wenn man keine Karten hat, kann man so gut wie nichts kaufen, daher bitte ich Sie heute wieder sehr, uns weiter ein 1 lb. Päckchen zu senden, besonders Butter, Käse, Kondenzmilch, Schokolade, Zucker, Kakao, Wurst, Kernseife (nicht mehr: Thee u. Kaffee) und wenn möglich, Hartspiritus. Voraussetzung ist natürlich, daß Max damit einverstanden ist, was ich aber annehme, und daß es Ihnen nicht zu viel Mühe macht. Wir sind natuerlich froh, endlich hier zu sein, aber haben größte Sorge, daß wer sehr lange auf Schiffsplätze warten müssen. Mit den besten Grüßen an Sie und Ihre liebe Familie bin ich

Dear Bill,
We arrived here yesterday. My husband and brother-in-law are in Les Milles, and I am at the Hotel Terminus des Ports at 59 Boulevard des Dames. The meals consist again of coffee, soup twice daily, and some bread. When you don’t have provision cards, you can hardly buy anything. Hence, I would like to request that you send us a 1 lb. package again, especially with butter, cheese, condensed milk, chocolate, sugar, coco, sausage, soap (no more tea and coffee), and if possible, canned fuel. Of course, the only condition is that Max agrees, which I assume, and that it’s not too much trouble for you. We are of course finally happy to be here. However, we're deeply concerned that we'll have to wait a very long time for places on a ship. Best regards to you and your dear family.
