It was discovered in 2018 in the Galconda Mine in Brazil. The bright blue of the tourmaline is attributed to the presence of copper and exposure to radioactive autunite crystals. The unique formation of these three minerals makes this specimen particularly rare.
Indicolite tourmaline has the chemical formula (Na,Ca)(Mg,Li,Al,Fe²⁺,Fe³⁺)₃(Al,Mg)₆(BO₃)₃Si₆O₁₈(OH,O,F)₄. Lepidolite has the chemical formula K(Li,Al)₃(Al,Si)₄O₁₀(F,OH)₂.
Albite has the chemical formula NaAlSi₃O₈.
