This is the first published periodic table of elements in its modern form with the elements of each group arranged vertically. Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev (1834-1907) created this table for the second edition of his seminal chemistry textbook Osnovy Khimīi (Principles of Chemistry), Volume II.
