This video is a narrated slide show of photographs taken during the American Institute of Chemists' tour of China in 1984. Photographs were taken and the slideshow is narrated by organic chemist Peter Throckmorton and his wife, Phyllis Throckmorton. During the AIC's tour, attendees traveled to Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, with stops at the Great Wall of China, the Beijing Science Hall, the Research Institute for Petroleum Processing, Tiananmen Square, Evergreen Commune, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, a jade factory in Xi'an, the terracotta army figures, Quanzhou Petrochemical Complex, and the city of Macau.

Please note that the quality of the original VHS cassette tape is poor but the image and sound issues at the beginning of the tape do not persist throughout.
