Distillation is a method of separating chemical substances based on differences in their volatilities in a boiling liquid mixture. A distilled beverage is a liquid meant for consumption containing ethyl alcohol (ethanol) purified by distillation from a fermented substance such as fruit, vegetables, or grain.

In this still, condensation of the evaporate substance occurs in its top, and the product runs down the attached tubes.
